What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

One 10-minute treatment—a few tiny injections—and within days there’s a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, which can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

What is XEOMIN®?

XEOMIN (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medication injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in adults. XEOMIN contains botulinum toxin type A, a protein purified from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

How does XEOMIN work?

When you squint or frown, the muscles between your eyebrows contract, causing the skin to furrow and fold. Over time, as your skin ages and loses some of its elasticity, these repeated contractions can cause persistent frown lines. Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in XEOMIN – acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting. By reducing these contractions, XEOMIN can temporarily reduce the lines between your eyebrows.

How do I know XEOMIN is right for me?

If you are an adult with moderate to severe glabellar lines, XEOMIN may be right for you. Talk to your doctor to discuss the benefits and risks of treatment. Do not take XEOMIN if you are allergic to botulinum toxin or any of the other ingredients in XEOMIN. You should also not take XEOMIN if you have had an allergic reaction to any other botulinum toxin product or have a skin infection at injection site.

What can I expect during treatment?

During treatment, which usually takes 10-20 minutes, you will be injected with XEOMIN into the muscles in your forehead that cause lines between your eyebrows. No anesthesia is required; however, your physician may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort.

Radiesse® – What Is It?

Radiesse® has been approved by the FDA as an injectable filler to treat deep wrinkles or lines around the mouth or nose that includes marionette lines, smile lines and the nasolabial folds. Radiesse® is synthetic that is made out of calcium hydroxyapatite. This ingredient is a substance that is inorganic and is much like bone. There are no animal products that are used in its production, so there is no need to test for allergies.

Radiesse® behaves like a cosmetic filler for the first three months after treatment. It is used to plump skin and reduce age lines. After about three months, the microspheres in Radiesse® help to stimulate the growth of natural collagen and actually cause the development of new tissue for longer lasting results of as much as two years. Radiesse® is useful in treating one of the effects of HIV, called facial lipoatrophy, deficiencies in the vocal cords, maxillofacial and oral defects and chin dimples and scars.

Radiesse® – How it works

Radiesse injections are administered just under the skin’s surface in the area that’s lost fat. This treatment can allow for visible improvement and offers increases in the thickness of the skin in treated areas. Results can be seen after the first treatment. While Radiesse cannot correct the cause of the fat loss in the face, it can improve the look of treated areas.

Radiesse® – Ingredients

Radiesse® is a hydrogel that is injectable. It has small calcium hydroxyapatite particles, which are naturally found in the human body as teeth and bones. Radiesse® is a material that cannot be easily broken apart by your body, which makes it longer lasting than other products. This product contains no animal products and is never tested on animals.

Since the ingredients found in Radiesse® also can be found in the body, there is no risk for allergies and it’s not necessary to pre-test. This is one of the benefits of Radiesse® over other types of skin fillers.

Who Should Consider Radiesse® Injection?

Those who should consider the Radiesse® treatment might include those who are showing signs of aging in the face to treat marionette lines, smile lines and other wrinkles on the face. Radiesse® is also an effective alternative to surgeries with implants and can fill in the cheeks, chin or nose. Patients who struggle with insufficient vocal cords or maxillofacial or oral defects that might include cystic and periodontal defects will also likely do well with Radiesse®treatments. Since this is a filler that contains natural substances that are naturally found in the body, there is no need for allergy testing.

What is Belotero Balance?

Belotero is an injection that is approved to temporarily smooth out and fill in moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds (the folds or wrinkles that go from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth). Belotero injectable gel is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that helps smooth moderate-to-severe etched in lines and wrinkles, for a natural, finished look.

Through the years, your skin’s natural ability to bounce back begins to diminish.

Belotero takes a targeted approach, specifically targeting moderate-to-severe etched-in lines and wrinkles, such as vertical lip lines.

With proprietary technology, Belotero Balance injectable gel evenly and completely blends into your skin, providing a natural finished look.

Belotero Balance is a filler that:

  • Integrates with your skin’s tissue
  • Smoothes your moderate-to-severe etched-in facial lines
  • Maintains normal movement and facial expressions
  • Feels natural to the touch

Belotero Balance creates an elegant finishing touch to your treatment regimen, noticeably improving the appearance of those stubborn etched-in lines and wrinkles.
